Masterclass with Navin Kumar

In advance of the new academic year, we are thrilled to present a Masterclass focusing on the Harris Core Curriculum with Assistant Instructional Professor Navin Kumar.

When sellers know more than buyers, does that give them an advantage? Not if buyers pull back—causing the market to break down and harming everyone involved. 

For this Masterclass, Kumar will explore asymmetric information, a foundational concept in the core course Principles of Microeconomics for Public Policy II. Kumar will examine the "lemons model" and its implications for healthcare, insurance, equity, efficiency, and the government’s role in keeping markets functioning.

Kumar is an applied microeconomist whose research focuses on development, crime, and mechanism design. He earned his PhD in economics from Boston College and holds master’s degrees in economics from both Boston College and the Delhi School of Economics.
