The University of Chicago: Graduate Studies

Military Roundtable with Current Students

Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 5:00 PM until 6:00 PMCentral Daylight Time UTC -05:00

This is a space to connect with military affiliated members of Harris. Students will share their program experience, what brought them to the University of Chicago, and their long-term goals on how they plan to utilize their Harris degrees.

In addition to this conversation, you might be interested in joining the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and The War Horse News on April 6, for a day-long symposium to discuss the human impact of military service with legendary journalists, world-class scholars, and senior government officials shaping the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

Inspired by The War Horse’s award-winning journalism and a Harris Public Policy-authored white paper about how military “news deserts” threaten national security, The War Horse Symposium will explore the intersection of solutions journalism and public policy while promoting discourse and civic engagement about military and veterans issues across the United States.

Featured speakers include Jon Stewart, Sec. of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough, Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks, Medal of Honor Recipient and retired Army Capt. Florent Groberg, Michèle Flournoy, former undersecretary of defense for policy, and award-winning journalist Bob Woodward (joining virtually).
